Start With Prayer:

Dear God, please help me to hear you, and understand your message for me.

The Beans:

The Background:

Over the course of this week we have looked at the 5 P’s from Jesus that He shares in The Lord’s Prayer – demonstrating how it is we should pray.

To review, they are praise, purpose, petition, pardon, and protection.

Today we’re going to look at what Jesus does when He feels burned out, to help us learn how it is that we can find protection from it as well.

The Verse:

Luke 5:15-16

“15 Yet the news about him spread all the more, so that crowds of people came to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses. 16 But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.”

The Fill:

What’s the point?:

The man understood pressure. The man understood what it felt like to have everyone in the world need you at the exact same moment. The man understood what it felt like to be one human, with two hands and one brain. The man understood the importance of protecting yourself …. or better yet, He understood the importance of seeking God’s protection.

Jesus had everyone coming to Him, needing something from Him. And in our own ways, we can relate.

We feel like everyone in the world needs us at the exact same time, leading us to feel extremely overwhelmed.

The example Jesus sets for us in prayer today, is to go to your Heavenly Father during those times.

He prioritizes His own spiritual health, taking the time to fill up with God, so that He can continue to help everyone else.

And if Jesus had to, what makes us think we can keep going, doing all the things, for all the people, without stopping to spend time with our Heavenly Father!?!

The Steam:

What does all of this mean to me/how can I apply that to my life today?

You’ve got to fill your cup.

You’ve got to prioritize your time with God.

You’ve got to make the time for prayer.

You’ve got to lean on Him more and your own strength less.

Girlfriends … you’ve got to pray for protection.

Plain and simple, I don’t have much other to say than that. Jesus sets the example for us to follow.

When you are overwhelmed by the weight of the world – get away and pray!

When you feel like you have nothing left – get away and pray!

When you literally don’t know how you’re going to be in carpool line and a board meeting at the same time – get away and pray!

He will give you the peace you need, and the discernment you seek … but they can only be found through prayer!

So do it friend!

Make the time … because You. Are. Worth. It!

Today wraps it all up! Today highlights the reason we’re to get away … protection! We praise God for His goodness, we ask Him to guide our work, to help us with our needs, and forgive us getting us on the path He needs us to be on … which ultimately is all protection!

I’m so so incredibly proud of you friend, and I pray that you’ve started a habit, or rejuvenated a prayer time in your life this week! I pray it extends past today though, and THAT is exactly what I’ll be praying over each of you!
