“His Way Is The Easy Way”
Start With Prayer:
Dear God, please help me to hear you, and understand your message for me.
Today’s verse is a portion of one of Jesus’ teachings, where we hear Him speaking to crowds of people about living life His way.
“28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
What’s the point?:
What’s a yoke?:
A yoke was a piece of farm equipment that attached a younger, weaker animal, to a larger, more mature animal in order to train the younger one. The way this yoke laid across the pair of animals, put the majority of the work/weight on the more experienced one.
Got it, What’s That Got To Do With Me?:
Ok, so over the course of this series so far, we’ve really examined how we are set free in Jesus. We are free from having to do things on our own power, free from having to do everything at once, free to receive His help …
We are free in Jesus.
We don’t have to adhere to the standards of perfection that we feel from society, social media, Pinterest, or even, our own crazy perfectionist selves.
We are set free from being perfect, BECAUSE, we are made perfect in Jesus.
As weird as His analogy may seem to us with zero farm experience (especially Biblical Times farm experience) … just know that Jesus is saying, He wants to attach Himself to you. He wants to walk with you and show you how to go about life each and every day.
Yes, friend, that means He wants to walk beside you and help you, as you trip over toys, spilling the clean/FOLDED laundry into a heap on the floor.
He wants to walk beside and guide you, as you stand in front of that board room and rock your presentation.
He wants to sit with you as you rock your grandbabies to sleep.
He wants to hold you up as you make those hard decisions, as you say goodbye to sick loved ones, as you face the unknown of loss.
Jesus says, attach yourself to me, so that … I can SHOW you how to truly LIVE in freedom!
What does all of this mean to me/how can I apply that to my life today?
Y’all, I pray that God has really spoken to your heart over the past two weeks.
I pray that He’s placed little urges in there that make you want to do life differently, to live lightly, and FREELY!
I pray you’ve come to crave a relationship with Him, and understand that it is a journey. It’s a continuous cycle of seeking Him, and then making tweaks and changes in accordance with what He lays on your heart.
When we remain “attached” to Jesus, He helps us to see how to be the friend/wife/employee/parent that we’re called to be.
This isn’t the end, y’all, we have one more week of really examining ways He wants to lead us from trying to survive, to really THRIVING each and every day!
I can’t wait to be back together again on Monday!
